Devil's Peak Lite
"Frisbee"
I directed three commercials to launch Devil’s Peak’s new super low-calorie Lite beer. I had a fun day working with this cute hound, as well as collaborating with Cape Town’s One Agency.
Netflix
"Badass Babies by Shaft"
Netflix SA asked me to direct a set of promos for the launch of the new Shaft movie, targeted at local audiences. We chose to do them in the goofy style of nostalgic infomercials from the VHS era.

"Three Flavours"
This was my first foray into liquid simulation VFX using RealFlow. It was a refreshing challenge to create this single take showcasing three new vibrant flavours.
Spur
"Flaming Brand Logo"
Spur Steak Ranches decided to update their sizzling hot logo for the end of their commercials, so I created this in Cinema 4D and Blender.
Fireball No.6
"Explosion"
When this spicy new liqueur hit the market, Blue Sky Brands wanted something appropriately impactful. A nice fiery explosion seemed to do the trick!
Vodafone India
"Zoozoos"
Zoozoos became a viral sensation in India when Platypus serviced the first wave of commercials. Since then I’ve been involved in VFX for subsequent campaigns, helping to create the unique look of the Zoozoo world.

Burger King
"Whopper Envy"
This VFX-heavy commercial was a real test of my 3D and compositing abilities, as I was tasked with building a space station exterior and interior from scratch and depicting our astronaut in zero-gravity.
Jameson
"Movie Night"
Jameson Irish Whiskey decided to sponsor local movie nights and I was asked to conceive a set of short promos to get people at home excited for the film. A very satisfying project with a lot of creative freedom.
Volkswagen
"Grand Prix Awards" Opener
Volkswagen SA regularly host the VW Grand Prix Awards where they recognise their employees’ achievements at an elaborate gathering. I built this vibrant cyberscape and created an exciting driving sequence to kick off the evening.
Street Store
Campaign Video
A local initiative that quickly went worldwide, creating a much-needed platform that cares and for the homeless. I created this promo for the campaign which then won a Gold Lion at Cannes Lions Festival.
Nandos
"#RightMyName" Campaign
Another great initiative through M&C Saatchi Abel, helping to make dictionaries more inclusive of unusual names. I worked with them on this campaign video.
Audi
"A3 Exchange"
We teamed up with Ogilvy South Africa on this campaign where locals competed in order to win a new Audi A3 Sportback. I helped realize some of the VFX environments.
Netflix
"Mysteries At 11"
I had the pleasure of directing a South African legend, Mr Riaan Cruywagen himself! He played himself in this witty local promo to launch the third season of popular TV show Stranger Things.
Thums Up
"Take Charge"
I was part of the VFX team on this huge job for Thums Up, aired in India. Shot entirely in the sweltering Richtersfeld region, the commercial required me to modify large sections of the craft and environment. Maximum effort!

Last One Alive
"Kiss The Ground"
During my tenure as guitarist and backing vocalist, we decided to break into the scene with a slick music video. I directed and performed in this film which went on to pick up a SAMMA Award. Check out the Behind The Scenes featurette.
Woodstock Mafia
"Electric Light"
I was approached by an old university friend and asked to direct a video for his band during their rise in popularity. This was my first proper music video which received a lot of attention in local media and charted for an extended period on local TV.
Last One Alive
"Revolve"
This was the second video I made for the band while I was a member, cobbled together from scraps of footage spanning its formative years of live performance.
Woodstock Mafia
"Trigger & Gun"
After the success of Electric Light, I directed a second video for the lads. This time we went with a much simpler concept, involving some tricky camera-work.
Zombies Ate My Girlfriend
"The Worst Is Yet To Come"
My colleague Tim Leibbrandt signed me on to help him realize a music video for these South African legends. I worked as cinematographer and oversaw the post.
SHORT FILMS
"BloodRush"
My final year film submission for The International Film School Sydney, where I studied directing. This ambitious and grim Urban Vampire story of addiction and loss through the memories of an unusual addict premiered at the local Labia Theatre to a full house.
"Pathological"
48 hour short film challenge
My second role as cinematographer/VFX supervisor for a Martian Roadkill film, competing in the 48 Hour Film Project in Cape Town. I picked up a nomination for best cinematographer on this dark, humorous med-school drama by Tim Leibbrandt.
"Echoes Of Playtime"
A visual poem shot on 8mm film. It tells a bittersweet tale of childhood through contemplative montage and expressionistic sound design. The kids are my nephews!
"The Living Room"
A film I made at film school that explores a family of characters grieving the loss of a relative over the course of the wake.
"Godmother"
48 hour short film
My first collab with Tim Leibbrandt on a Martian Roadkill production. We pulled ‘Thriller’ genre at the 48 Hour Film Project, and two days later we’d made this quirky gem starring some great local talent.
